Jay Leno Donates Car to Fisher House

Car donation can raise thousands of dollars for our returning troops. Just look at the auction of Tonight Show host Jay Leno’s Fiat 500.

At Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach Auctions, Leno’s first-edition 2012 Fiat 500 sold for $350,000. An enthusiastic crowd added another $250,000, bringing the sale to a whopping $600,000 in the name of veterans. Leno specifically selected the Fisher House Foundation, which builds comfort homes for the families of military members receiving medical treatment at military hospitals and VA Medical Centers around the country, as the beneficiary of his sale proceeds.

One of the ways Vets Vehicles processes donated vehicles is by selling them to licensed dealers at wholesale auctions around the country. Like Leno’s Fiat 500, the money raised by each vehicle sale is forwarded to veterans’ charities like the Fisher House Foundation. Also, the donor gets to deduct the sales price of the vehicle from their taxes.
